The HANDS International team of Haitian American doctors and nurses arrives and witnesses for themselves the impact of the earthquake, with thousands of homes, schools and churches destroyed. They set up their base of operations at ORE compound in Camp-Perrin which was miraculously spared from damage, and used the offices as an infirmary where they treated the hundreds patiently waiting for medical care.
